The Polocrosse Association of Australia is pleased to invite you to participate in an exciting Quadrangular Series in Australia 2009. It is proposed to conduct the Series during April or May (TBC).

Polocrosse Australia cordially invite a Mixed Senior Team to be accompanied by your Country President, Coach, Manager, Umpire and Spouses/Partners.

Cape Hunt 22/23 September 2007

You are invited to enter the Cape Classic tournament on the 22/23 September.
This tournament is always great fun and you will want to play in it again.
Those of you who are interested must please give your names to Gillian Kitshoff before 7 September 2007
No teams or sections are entered as Japie makes up the teams and draw once he has the names of all the players.
The teams and format will be announced at a function to be held at Cape Hunt on Friday evening at 7.00pm.
There will be a potjie on Saturday evening at the club. Final details for this will still be announced.
Cost of the Tournament is R220.00. Stabling is available at R50. This needs to be indicated on your entry if required, as we need to book them.

Polocrosse has commenced in Germany and is here to stay.

The International Polocrosse Council’s Senior Vice-President, Ivor Young has given 3 coaching sessions at various German riding centres and clubs throughout 2004. Two of these training clinics have been privately funded by members of various riding clubs and one session has received funding from its local riding association. Continue reading »

History of Polocrosse in Zimbabwe

In 1948, whilst chairman of the Ft. Victoria (now Masvingo) Gymkhana Club, Dr Minto Strover read in the magazine ‘Riding’, an article by the late Tony Collins, describing the New Australian Game. He wrote to Australia and to Porlock Vale Polocrosse Club, England, and was able to obtain rule books, sticks and balls and thereafter started practicing with the enthusiastic members of his club. Following a visit in 1950, by keen riders from the Umvuma area, Rhodesdale Club (now Sebakwe) was soon formed and the first inter club match was held that year. A third club was then formed in Gweru, and in consequence the Polocrosse Association was formed under the Presidency of Dr Stover. In 1951, during a visit to Escourt in Natal, Dr Strover explained the game to friends in the area and with his assistance, polocrosse in South Africa was established. Continue reading »

Polocrosse was first introduced to South Africa in 1949 at a demonstration game held by the Durban Riding club at Kings Park.

The first South African National Championships were held in 1972 at Colenso. Our fist national South African Federation was formed in 1972 and was called the Polocrosse Association of South Africa. Continue reading »
