April saw LHPCC having lots of fun ! The Sponsor’s Tournament kicked off with a cocktail party, presentation of the ZPCA awards and the team auction. Saturday was the start of the polocrosse games and the kiddies carnival during lunch, followed by a vaulting display by the Junior National Zambian team. Sunday morning the games continued, a fantastic Sponsors lunch was served and all enjoyed the Kiddies carnival.
Omnia was the winning team with members Richard Chapple, Andrew Daniels, Daniel Nel, Pieter du Toit, Rebecca Beckett and Carianne de Boer. City Graphics were runners up with team members Antony Barker, Doug Evans, James Rae and 3 members from the Police being Comfort Kabiti, Charles Musonda and Winfreda Mulamfu .
Congratulations to Nick Beckett who bought the winning team !
Awards were as follows :Best Lower Division Player – Pieter du Toit, Best Upper Division Player – Kirsten Michelson, Most Valued Player – Vicky Sharp, Best Pony in Lower Division-John Rae’s Rats and Best Upper Division Pony– Ant Barker’s Outdoor Man.

As the new President of New Zealand Polocrosse it is my pleasure to present this report on behalf of the New Zealand Polocrosse Board. Since the last IPC meeting polocrosse in New Zealand has continued to grow and develop and this is due partly to the focused efforts of those on the Board and in administrative roles within the sport and past players who have (in response to our publicity) come out of retirement to play and / or coach. In the last two years New Zealand Polocrosse has adopted a new Constitution, rewritten their By-Laws and changed their name to “New Zealand Polocrosse Inc”, to reflect the change in the structure of the Association as being run by a Board, no longer a Council. These are all positive moves for New Zealand which involved major input from many of our members. Continue reading »

Zimbabwe have become the 7th country to announce their World Cup team, leaving just Ireland undeclared as the competition in July rapidly approaches. Just one member of the 2007 World Cup team survives, that is Andy Baker who is now the captain of the team. There are two other players who did also play in the 2003 World Cup but just not for Zimbabwe, they are Sophie Sargeant (formerly of the UK) and Kelly Redford (formerly of South Africa). New South Wales dominated the Barastoc Interstate Series, played mainly between themselves and Queensland, though there were also teams competing from New Zealand, South Australia and Victoria. NSW took nearly every grade that was going, yielding just two to the claret clad players of Queensland. However, the fact that it was the junior boys and girls titles that they lost out on will give Queensland hope for the future.
